Concept, Design and Photography

(Client: World Council of Credit Unions)

I created Seeds, this custom accordion-fold booklet and slipcase, to tell an incredible story of hope, community and financial empowerment that unfolded in the Nyanza province of Kenya. I had the privilege of accompanying a team from World Council of Credit Unions to visit, interview and photograph people in Western Kenya with HIV/AIDS, many of whom were given access to microloans for the first time through an agricultural lending project funded by the USDA and implemented by World Council of Credit Unions. It was a profound experience to meet and hear stories from some of "the grannies," a band of older women who farm small plots of land to provide for the (sometimes up to 10) orphans in their care.
